The miners were playing their first game in 8 days after last week’s postponement and faced a stern test against a Clipstone team who had won both games and scored 10 goals.
The first 10 minutes was very tight and both teams were just finding their feet and on 7 minutes the visitors created the first chance, Kieran Harrison swung in a corner which Adrian Hawes headed across the box and captain Josh Thornton managed to head back towards goal, but the hosts keeper claimed.
Clipstone, who had finished 7th last campaign took the lead with their first meaningful attack a cross from the left was not dealt with enough by Exauce Nsiala and Jordan Ball slammed a half volley into the bottom right of the net leaving debutant keeper Josh Mitchell no chance.
Just 4 minutes later on 18 minutes the cobras doubled their advantage, Tim Gregory broke away down the left and his cross was missed by Mitchell and Will Heather headed into the empty net from 8 yards to give the miners a big uphill task.
Gedling continued to push forward but failed to create any clear-cut chances until 1st half stoppage time. First, Jack Koczalski found room in the box after a free kick wasn’t dealt with but his effort from 16 yards was held by the hosts keeper and just a minute later Harrison hit a dipping half volley from 25 yards which had to be turned around the post and the miners went into the break 2 down.
The early stages after the break again were closely contested but on 53 minutes Clipstone put the game to bed with a very well worked goal, Ball and Ryan Ingram played a brilliant give and go and Ingram set up Lewis Bingham who slotted the ball into the corner from 10 yards.
Things got worse for the miners as on 81 minutes they were reduced to 10 men as Thornton was shown a red card for an apparent attempted punch much to the disagreement of the Gedling faithful.
Gedling remain without any points after 2 games but have faced 2 teams which have 100% win records so far and are back on the road tomorrow (12) to face Southwell City.
Gedling Team: Josh Mitchell, Exauce Nsiala (Steven Brett 46’), Buba Ceesay, Ross McCaughey, Jack Koczalski, Adrain Hawes (Kian Clarkson 80’), Victor Somoye (Jack Vipond 46’), Kieran Harrison, Muta Eisa (Gian Ciaurro 68’), Stuart Hendrie, Josh Thornton (C)
A man was caught hiding in a loft at an Arnold property with a JD Sports bag containing cannabis and cash when he tried to evade arrest.
Officers attended an address in Worrall Avenue on Thursday, August 10 looking for a man wanted in connection with a GBH offence.
At around 8.40am, they were let into the property and conducted a search.
Within the rear first floor bedroom was a small loft hatch leading into the loft space. Officers made themselves known but no one responded.
Once entering the loft, they found the suspect in a dressing gown lying on his side in front of the water tank attempting to hide.
A search of the loft – close to where the man was hiding – recovered a black jacket containing a quantity of cash and a black JD Sports drawstring bag containing a quantity of cannabis and more cash.
Underneath a wooden floorboard, officers also found a mobile phone.
A 20-year-old man was arrested on possession with intent to supply Class B drugs (cannabis) as well as the GBH offence which took place on July 26.
Sergeant Mark Westlake, from Operation Reacher, said: “This was a brilliant joint effort by uniformed patrols and Radford Road’s Operation Reacher team.
“This suspect thought he could evade police by hiding in a loft but unfortunately for him it didn’t pay off.
“Not only have we arrested him for the GBH offence, but we had enough evidence to arrest him for drug dealing as well.
“More work will now be conducted to understand the scale of the operation he was involved in.”

FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round Replay – August 8 2023
First half goals from Greg Tempest and Romello Nangle saw Carlton Town progress in the FA Cup following a 2-0 victory against Quorn.
The Millers had been five minutes from exiting the competition three days earlier but Musa Ndaw Jawara’s late equaliser at Farley Way earned the Millers an Extra-Preliminary Round replay and they took full advantage with an assured performance that fully merited the win, despite some late Quorn pressure.
Carlton named an unchanged starting eleven for the replay. Quorn on the other hand made six changes to their starting line up but Cain Noble, who played one game for Carlton on loan from Nuneaton last season, retained his spot in the side. Another ex-Miller, Charlie Marzano, was on the bench. Former manager Wayne Scott was a welcome spectator amongst the fine midweek crowd of 160.
On an excellent playing surface the Millers started on the front foot and had Quorn pinned in their own half for long periods of the first half. Lamin Manneh in particular was causing problems for the visitors and was the recipient of several industrial challenges as the Foxhunters struggled to deal with him.
On a rare Quorn attack, Paddy Webb was excellently dispossessed by Dan Brown shortly before Carlton opened the scoring. Manneh was once again involved, darting forward before being brought down on the edge of the box by Tom Hilton, earning the Quorn man a yellow card. Up stepped Tempest to fire home a delicious free kick and stake an early claim for goal of the season.
Quorn did briefly respond and Jack Samples fired just over the bar after Felix Annan had punched clear before Webb was unlucky when his effort from outside the box hit the top of the crossbar.
The Millers though kept up the pressure and doubled their lead on the half hour when Nangle headed home unmarked after Dean Freeman had flicked on a Lewis Durow throw in.
The visitors threatened to attack with a quick counter attack following an Annan free kick but Manneh sprinted fully 50 yards back to dispossess Reece Fyfe and then draw a foul from the same player.
Moment later David Adegbola surged down the right before sending over a delightful cross that was met by a Manneh header that drew a fine save from Charlie Woods.
Annan had to be off his line quickly to deal with an early second half break by Quorn before Manneh fired just wide at the other end. Annan then showed some neat control in sidestepping Fyfe before clearing.
Hilton brought down Manneh with another crunching foul on the left touchline. The referee’s decision not to issue a second yellow card saw Tommy Brookbanks remonstrate with the officials with the end result that he was shown two yellow cards in quick succession and sent off. It didn’t escape anyone’s attention that while this was going on, Quorn substituted Hilton no doubt to avoid him being sent off the next time he brought down Manneh.
The final 20 minutes of the game saw the visitors push Carlton back as they searched for a way back into the tie. Annan did well to save from Noble on the right and then produced a stunning save from Saturday’s Quorn goalscorer Tyrell Shannon-Lewis.
Pat Zito headed over from close range and Annan saved once again, this time from Marzano as the Carlton defence held firm to book a home tie against Maltby Main or Pinchbeck Utd in the next round.
Carlton Town: F Annan, D Adegbola, L Durow, D Brown, D Freeman, G Tempest, L Manneh, K Sargent (M Ford 71), R Nangle (M Jawara 46), A Howes, N Hylton (S Thompson-Harris 79). Unused subs: N Liburd-Hines, N Davie, L Sisawo-Danso, O Gee
People needing medical care across in Gedling borough will now be able to get professional clinical advice and treatment at a place more convenient for them as part of an extended service agreement between community pharmacists and NHS England in the Midlands.
The agreement covers a variety of minor illnesses including urinary tract infections (UTIs) and some skin infections.
More than 400 community pharmacists in the East Midlands have signed the agreement, and completed the necessary training requirements, and patients needing clinical advice can check if their local pharmacist is taking part at NHS England — Midlands » Pharmacies offering Extended Care Services
The majority of pharmacists involved in the service are able to treat women aged between 16 and 65 with simple UTIs as well as children aged from three months to two years who present with acute bacterial conjunctivitis.
Pharmacists can also treat skin infections including impetigo, infected eczema and infected insect bites. Some pharmacists can now also treat otitis media in children aged from three months to 16 years. This is an infection in the middle ear and particularly common in young children.
There have been almost 3,000* consultations to the service since it launched in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire in early 2021.
Pharmacists can supply medicines to treat the conditions, or recommend the purchase of over the counter medicines. If people are exempt from paying for prescriptions, they won’t have to pay for medicines that would normally be prescribed by the GP.
Lucy Dadge, Director of Integration at NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, said: “This is a massive step forward in making treatment more accessible for people in local surroundings and empowering pharmacists to offer clinical care to their communities.
“We have been delighted with the number of community pharmacists who have taken up the extended services agreement. Pharmacists are already carrying out clinical checks such as blood pressure and vaccinations for flu and Covid-19. People can also use community pharmacists to manage their oral contraceptives, which means they don’t need to visit their GP.”
Emma Anderson, Pharmacist Independent Prescriber, from Evans Pharmacy in East Leake said: “I am passionate about providing good access to care. I enjoy providing the extended care service because it allows me to do more for people. It is very well received by people who use this service. This has led to requests for prescribing for common conditions and a chance to extend the scope of my clinical practice. I also use this as an opportunity to promote the NHS hypertension case finding service and the NHS contraception services to relevant people who use the extended care service.”
It has been a season of success in the borough for one talented primary school.
Stanhope Primary, in Gedling village, reached the finals of the county cup football competition with both their girl’s and boy’s teams, with the girls going on to take the crown.
Years five and six were competing.
The amazing achievements of both teams were recognised by sporting royalty, with the pupils having a video message from Carl Froch, as well as a special assembly with England international Sophie Bradley-Auckland.
Nathan Kenney, Year 2 teacher and P.E coordinator at Stanhope, said: “I just wanted to shine a light on our boy’s and girl’s football teams.
“I’ve taught here for seven years and the furthest we have got is a boy’s quarter final last year.
“This year both teams made it to the final with the girl’s going on to win despite only one girl playing regular football outside of school.

“No other school have managed to get both girl’s and boy’s teams into the final in the same year.”
There were over 40 schools involved, 20 each for both the boy’s and girl’s competitions.
Both teams were unbeaten on their way to the final.
Amanda Richards, headteacher at Stanhope Primary, said: “We are immensely impressed by the achievements of both of our football teams.
“They pulled together to play some amazing football and made the whole school community proud.”
Nathan also runs a girls only session on Mondays, from 6 to 7pm, as part of Mapperley All Stars coaching.

As we sail into the robust digital age, Amazon businesses are venturing beyond traditional horizons, hungry for transformative methods to refine their e-commerce ventures. Amid this landscape, the Virtual Assistant (VA) emerges as a potent ally, propelling businesses towards greater efficiency and unprecedented growth.
Operational Efficiency:
Navigating the intricate maze of Amazon’s day-to-day operations can be akin to orchestrating a grand symphony; there’s beauty in the chaos, but only if every note, or in this case, every task, is perfectly timed and executed. Enter the Virtual Assistant. By adeptly handling the minutiae – from inventory checks, order verifications, to the seemingly mundane administrative tasks – a VA ensures your business purrs like a finely tuned machine. They seamlessly bridge any operational gaps, creating a fluid, well-oiled business model. As Amazon’s brand essence revolves around streamlined efficiency, a VA embodies this, ensuring your enterprise mirrors this gold standard. Amazowl empowers e-commerce businesses with cutting-edge solutions that elevate their sales strategies to new heights.
Product Research and Sourcing:
The Amazon marketplace is ever-evolving, pulsating with trends that ebb and flow. While it’s tempting to dive into this tide, discerning which waves to ride requires finesse. Here, the VA emerges as a sagacious guide. With a keen eye on market oscillations, VAs unveil trending products, dissect competitor strategies, and scout for stellar suppliers. They aren’t just operating on the surface; they’re deep-diving into data, ensuring your business is always a step ahead, riding the crest of the e-commerce wave.
Listing Optimisation and Marketing:
In the vast Amazonian sea, a product’s sparkle can be easily overshadowed if not spotlighted correctly. Think of your product as a gem, and the VA, your jeweller, meticulously crafting a setting that makes it dazzle. Through precise product titles, compelling descriptions, and captivating images, they ensure your product doesn’t just blend in – it stands out. But that’s not all; VAs are also your marketing mavens. Whether orchestrating a compelling amazon PPC agency weaving the magic of promotional events, they elevate your brand, ensuring it resonates amid the cacophony of competitors.
Customer Support and Feedback Management:
In the grand theatre of e-commerce, customers are not just the audience; they’re the critics whose reviews can make or break a show. Amazon’s ethos is deeply rooted in customer-centricity, and a VA ensures this ethos is reverberated in every interaction. By swiftly addressing queries, pacifying concerns, and ensuring feedback metamorphoses into actionable insights, VAs cultivate a nurturing ecosystem. Each customer becomes a cherished guest, their experiences refined to mirror the premium standards Amazon is celebrated for.
Time and Cost Savings:
Beyond the allure of operational brilliance, the pragmatic benefits of hiring a VA cannot be overlooked. Consider this: the overheads of a full-time employee, from benefits to office space, can weigh down the entrepreneurial spirit. A VA, on the other hand, emerges as an economically astute alternative. Working remotely, yet always connected, they negate these additional costs. Furthermore, by juggling diverse tasks, VAs gift you something invaluable – time. Time to envision, to strategise, and to weave the tapestry of your Amazonian dream.
In the grand tapestry of e-commerce, the VA isn’t just a thread; they’re the skilled artisan weaving patterns of success. As Amazon businesses soar to new pinnacles, the Virtual Assistant remains the wind beneath their wings, propelling them to ascend ever higher. The question isn’t whether you need a VA; it’s how soon can you integrate one into your epic Amazonian journey.
