MATCH REPORT: Nottingham Outlaws 30 – 16 Leamington Royals

Saturday June 15

Nottingham Outlaws entertained Leamington Royals in a Midlands Women’s Friendly fixture  on Saturday and despite incessant rain, both sides put on an excellent show before Outlaws pushed out to a convincing  30-16 victory.

Leamington battled hard but the Outlaws superior scoring ability always kept them one step ahead on the scoresheet.

Try scorers were Robyn Gulley (3) Shannon Jordan (2) and Leah Martin (1) with Robyn adding three conversions to her points tally.

As the players waited eagerly for the player of the match announcement there were a number of Outlaws in contention but there were no surprises when the bubbly deservedly went to  Shannon Jordan.

After the game team captain Rhiz Lord was quick to congratulate her troops commenting ”  I am so proud of the team today. Every single person put their best foot forward and the result shows this. We gave it our all, despite horrendous weather conditions and came away with a much-deserved win. This has given us the boost we needed and we head into next week’s Midlands tournament ready to win again!”

Final thoughts came from a very satisfied Women’s Head Coach Mark Stockman who added “I thought the ladies battled well given the torrential conditions. We put a lot of what we’re doing in training into practice today. The friendly also allowed me as coach to be able to try some different combinations. We need a big push at training this week to give ourselves the best opportunity for a result next weekend.”

Nottingham Outlaws Rugby League Club are one of the leading Rugby League clubs in the Midlands. In addition to the 1st Team, the Outlaws also operate a 2nd Team that competes in the Midlands Rugby League competition. The club is thriving at all levels and now boasts over 200 registered players, with several junior teams and a women’s section.

From Ben Nevis to Big Ben via Nottingham: 2,436km, 210 stages and one climate change mission

In 2024, by popular demand, ‘Running out of Time’ has returned to help deliver a message calling for action to cut emissions, restore nature, and support those hardest hit by climate change.

Thousands of runners, walkers, wheelers and cyclists will be passing a Relay baton containing a message supporting the Climate Coalition’s national United for People, Climate and Nature campaign on its epic journey from Ben Nevis to Big Ben.

The Relay launched on June 6 at Ben Nevis before undertaking the extraordinary 2,436km journey to Big Ben in Parliament Square, London, planning to arrive on July 4.

Over the 210 stages there are over 80 visits to climate & nature projects, sporting bodies & venues, schools, events and iconic locations and the event passes through Nottinghamshire on Monday June 6.

Over the 29 days participants will run, walk, cycle, kayak, climb, wheel, swim and surf the baton across Britain to supercharge awareness, celebrate great climate work and inspire action.

In 2022, thousands of runners, cyclists and sailors carried the baton from Scotland to Egypt, to deliver a climate message from young people to world leaders at COP27.  That event was an epic 7,767km relay, crossing seas, mountain ranges, glaciers, and deserts, villages, towns and capital cities along the way. The baton visited hundreds of schools, at-risk locations and climate change projects to inspire and champion local climate action and now it’s back for another incredible journey!

Further information about the event can be found HERE.

Woodborough school where ‘pupils flourish’ sees improved Ofsted rating

A Woodborough primary school has been rated as ‘good’ by Ofsted after an inspection in April. Woodborough Woods Foundation C of E was previously rated as ‘requires improvement’ by the regulator following the last inspection in 2022

Woodborough Woods Foundation C of E Primary School in has been praised for ‘helping children flourish’ in a new Ofsted report.

Government inspectors highlighted the school’s curriculum as ‘broad and ambitious’ and it was also praised for ‘helping children flourish’.

Pupils’ behaviour and attitudes were judged to be outstanding and were described as ‘exceptional’ by inspectors.

Inspectors, who visited the school on April 23 and 24 also commended the school’s ‘inclusive Christian ethos’.

They said that pupils are safe, happy and ‘love school’. They acknowledged that the school prioritises pupils’ wider development and, as a result, that ‘pupils contribute significantly to the school culture’.

The outcome from this inspection reflects the huge turnaround at the school, which was judged to require improvement in 2022. Significant changes in governance, leadership and staffing have enabled rapid progress to be made in all areas, with Woods now recognised as ‘a school at the very heart of its community’.

Duncan White, Executive Headteacher, said significant changes in governance, leadership and staffing had enabled progress to be made in all areas.

He said: “I’m delighted that the inspection report acknowledges all the great things our school does. I am especially pleased for the community of Woodborough, all of our staff and, of course, our children. Everyone in school looks forward to continuing to improve.

He added: “The best is yet to come!”.

Chair of Governors, Linda Foster, said: “The Governors are delighted with this report.

“Staff are passionate about children’s learning and work hard, in partnership with parents, to ensure that children achieve their full potential. The school has been transformed!”

Data analytics services – business opportunities

Business management requires data analytics services to make informed and well-considered decisions. However, there are appropriate tools that facilitate reporting, monitoring, analysis and drawing conclusions from the big data provided. If you would like to learn about these opportunities, you can find more information on the website https://www.altkomsoftware.com/.

One of the highly valued data services is building a complete, comprehensive and well-organized data architecture. Such a solution and comprehensive support enables the creation of coherent databases, their modelling, integration and processing. The use of appropriate predictive methods enables the development of specific solutions and methods that will be tailored to the particular nature of the business and its activities, such as logistic forecasting of product demand or risk assessment in financial institutions.

In turn, using specially designed Power BI dashboards makes it easier to create reliable reports for each department of the company, which streamlines the process of evaluating current business activities and possibly leads to a change in strategy.
