In 2024, by popular demand, ‘Running out of Time’ has returned to help deliver a message calling for action to cut emissions, restore nature, and support those hardest hit by climate change.

Thousands of runners, walkers, wheelers and cyclists will be passing a Relay baton containing a message supporting the Climate Coalition’s national United for People, Climate and Nature campaign on its epic journey from Ben Nevis to Big Ben.

The Relay launched on June 6 at Ben Nevis before undertaking the extraordinary 2,436km journey to Big Ben in Parliament Square, London, planning to arrive on July 4.

Over the 210 stages there are over 80 visits to climate & nature projects, sporting bodies & venues, schools, events and iconic locations and the event passes through Nottinghamshire on Monday June 6.

Over the 29 days participants will run, walk, cycle, kayak, climb, wheel, swim and surf the baton across Britain to supercharge awareness, celebrate great climate work and inspire action.

In 2022, thousands of runners, cyclists and sailors carried the baton from Scotland to Egypt, to deliver a climate message from young people to world leaders at COP27.  That event was an epic 7,767km relay, crossing seas, mountain ranges, glaciers, and deserts, villages, towns and capital cities along the way. The baton visited hundreds of schools, at-risk locations and climate change projects to inspire and champion local climate action and now it’s back for another incredible journey!
