Nottinghamshire Police are now trying to trace the woman, who is described as being in her 20s, with shoulder length brown hair, following a number of reports from concerned residents in the Arnold area.

In the latest incident the woman approached the occupant of a local house and stated that she had just left her handbag, containing her house keys, on a bus and requested whether she could use the Yellow Pages to find the number of a locksmith in order to get access to her address. Match Report: Rise Park Ladies FC 0 – Arnold Town Ladies 1

With Christmas around the corner, the last game of 2015 saw Arnold Town Ladies play an away game against Rise Park in the familiar surroundings of Eagle Valley. Having lost the reverse fixture on the opening day of the season, it was important to show how far this team really had come as only three players were new to the starting line up on that day.

With the usual Arnold wind blowing a gale, Arnold Town had it in their favour in the first half. Crunching challenges were allowed to go by the referee as neither side held back in the first 30 minutes. Rise Park edged the corner count but neither side really created a clear cut chance. Emily Nelis, Molly Parker and Chloe Jordan had the best opportunities for Arnold but lost out to a heavy touch or an unlucky bounce. It took sheer persistence to create the break through as Molly Parker chased a lost cause into the Rise half which saw the defender panic and clear for a corner. From the set piece, Claire Potter connected well running across the front post to put the visitors into the lead at the break.

With the wind now against them, the light fading and a tropical storm brewing, Arnold knew that they only had to keep a clean sheet in order to collect the 3 points. The second half certainly was a much more backs-to-the-wall performance but boy, did they stand up to everything that was thrown at them. Considering the age difference in the two teams Arnold players didn’t give an inch and played with a maturity rarely seen over the last few years. The defence welcomed back Chay Davey to steady the ship, and Charley Norman passed a late fitness test to play the whole 90 minutes at left back. Claire Potter won every header and tackle and in my opinion, the best right back in the league in Tina Potter prevented Rise Park getting any chances at goal other than long range shots which were comfortably saved by the reliable Emily Hallam.

The midfield will have come away with bumps and bruises but that was due to them putting their bodies on the line for the team. Captain Jenny Lorimer was asked to play a more defensive role even though her show boating the week before would have got fans paying to watch, and she demonstrated the attitude that is moving through the whole club at the moment, as she held the team together as a real leader does. Chloe Stocks moved from the back four into a more defensive midfield role and showed the class that makes every Arnold manager want her in their side, and Elli Leathen proved that she has the mental strength to go along side her obvious talent.

With the daylight almost non-existent Rise were unable to break the side down and Arnold went into the Christmas break with another win, and hopefully a message to all the other teams in the East Midland Premier League, that this club is no longer an easy team to play against.

Team: E.Hallam, T.Potter, C.Davey, C.Potter, C.Norman, J.Lorimer (c), C.Stocks, C.Jordan, E.Leathen, M.Parker, E.Nelis

Subs : C.Button (C.Stocks), N.Leach (E.Leathen), J.Adcock
Arnold Town Under 11’s used a free weekend to have their first ever 9-a-side match in a friendly against Mansfield Town. It was the first time they experienced the offside rule as well as a much bigger pitch. Both teams were a credit to their respectable clubs as they played not only good football but in a fantastic spirit. Arnold finished the game 4-3 winners which they can be extremely proud.

The Eco-Dragon, which was built by members of Newstead Events Group and Newstead Youth Centre, will be stopping off first at Gedling Borough Council’s Civic Hall, where it will be on display in the mall until February.

Eco-artist Sarah Turner helped children create the dragon sculpture, which stands at a metre tall, from CDs, plastic bottles, drinks lids, pop cans and phone top up cards.

The group used nail polish and marker pens to paint beautiful patterns onto each of the scales, which were then attached to a structure built from plastic pipes, bottles, and chicken wire.

This dragon was created as a result of Grants for the Arts funding gained by Future Newstead from the Arts Council England.

Police have released fresh CCTV footage of potential witnesses they believe could help catch the suspect behind an attempted armed robbery on a car sales business in Colwick.

It is believed the pair were visiting NG Car Sales, in Colwick, at the same time the attempted armed robbery took place.

On Saturday (11 July, 2015) at around 5pm a man entered the premises carrying what appeared to be a silver handgun.

He threatened the business manager who was able to flee out of a back door leaving two customers with the robber.

The robber then left the scene empty handed.

The gun was never used and nobody was injured in the incident.

PC James Primrose said: “The customers are believed to be an Asian family – a man and possibly his wife and adult daughter – who had been at the business premises for around one hour prior to the offence.

“They were sat in the office at the time the offender entered but left the scene before police arrived.

“We would like these witnesses to come forward as they may be able to offer more information about the incident and the offender.”

The offender is described as white, around 6ft 3ins to 6ft 5ins tall, with gaunt features and a prominent nose. He is believed to be aged in his early 30s and was wearing a black beanie hat, a black jacket and black bottoms.

PC James Primrose said: “At this stage we do not know if the handgun was genuine or not. Whatever the case, the incident left the manager of the business extremely shaken.

“It is vital we trace this man as soon as possible and we would appeal to anyone in the community who thinks they may have any information at all which could assist to get in touch.”

If you think you can help please contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 710 of 11 July, 2015, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Match Report: Arnold Town Ladies 0 Notts County Development 2

Notts County development were the visitors to Eagle Valley having notched a 9-0 win in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

With that in mind, Arnold were eager to see how far they had progressed in that time. With almost a full squad to chose from, manager Andy Ingle brought Chloe Stocks into the back four along side Claire Potter, Tina Potter and Charley Norman. The midfield looked strong with Ciara Button and Chloe Jordan protecting the defence and Jen Lorimer playing the free role in front of them.

The defence held well but were undone after 20 minutes when County opening the scoring. It was 2-0 being for the break as Arnold were unable to clear their lines folllowing a Notts Corner. Goalkeeper Emily Hallam pulled off four point-blank saves before the ball was poked in.

The situation was similar to the previous week against Mansfield where the home side were second to everything. Once they settled down they were much the better team in the second half. Molly Parker came close with a free header from a corner, Natasha Leache saw her turn, dribble and shot spectacually saved by the visiting keeper before she turned another Molly Parker effort around the post. Wide players Emily Nelis and Eli Leathen had the beating of their markers but were unable to deliver the perfect cross. They were excellently assisted by both full backs, Tina Potter and Kellie Hart.

Overall the signs are still positive, however it was another case of nearly but not quite. Players are certainly good enough, they just need to believe it from the kick-off and not allow themselves to be a couple of goals behind before they settle into the game.

Team: E.Hallam, T.Potter, C.Stocks, C.Potter, C.Norman, E.Leathen, J.Lorimer (C), C.Jordan, M.Parker, E.Nelis, C.Button
Subs: N.Leach (C.Button), K.Hart (C.Norman)
Arnold Town Ladies Second team went into the festive break with a fantastic 9-0 win at Eagle Valley, putting them joint top of the Senior league. With all the rain on Saturday there was a real worry that the game could fall foul to the weather but in the end it was only raining goals.

Having created numerous chances, Arnold finally got the break through when Katie McCrorie found space on the edge of the area before placing a shot into the bottom corner. It took a while before they were able to double their lead having seen the Bingham Town keeper make save after save. A rasping Chloe Stocks effort however gave the visitors no chance as it hit the top corner before anyone could react.

Two nil at half time was probably very generous however the away side were giving their all and were a credit to their club. It was also pleasing to see Arnold Goalkeeper Ellie Roache return to match action and was rewarded with a 45 minute clean sheet before she was replaced by Jess Shelton.

It didnt take long for the home team to get further ahead, as Katie McCrorie got her second, getting the final touch during a goal mouth scramble. Space was now being created as Bingham tired and Charley Keetley took full advantage by racing through from the right before firing past the keeper to make it four. Danielle Pritchard continued her scoring streak as her free kick rattled in of the bar, just landing on the other side of the goal line and whilst Bingham complained that the goal shouldnt have stood, Arnold snuck in and added a 6th as Alice Millns tapped in following Sammy Hoyes effort coming back off the post. Sammy got her reward minutes later as she finished a great team move, beating the keeper at the back post.

Keeley Terry ventured forward from the back and added to the total before Hannah Hughes scored the best of the lot, cutting in from the right before curing the ball round the outstretched arm of the Bingham keeper to make it 9-0 at full time.

Both the Under 18 and Under 16 games were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.

Youngsters at Lowdham nursery delight audiences with new take on nativity

A disorganised but lovable angel who is chosen to show the way to Bethlehem stole the show at this year’s Alphabet House Day Nursery Lowdham Christmas play.

Three year old Laura Roberts from Bleasby performed the leading role in the nursery’s Christmas play, called ‘Whoops-a-Daisy-Angel’. The Christmas cast comprising nursery and pre-school children aged from three to five years old played to a packed audience of family and friends.

Lisa Chipping is the nursery manager at Alphabet House Day Nursery White Post. She says: “Christmas is a very special time for everyone at Alphabet House and we’re so pleased that we were able to put on a wonderful performance for the children’s parents. The children have been working very hard on this play since the beginning of November – I know the songs off-by-heart and I’m fairly certain I’ve been singing them in my sleep!”

nativ1

“Whoops-a-Daisy-Angel’ is the seasonal story of a chaotic angel who is always late and who rushes around making lots of mistakes. Her halo is never straight and she even loses her harp. She is eventually given the most important job of all, guiding the shepherds to Bethlehem for the birth of Christ.

Laura’s mum Zoe said: “Laura just loved playing Whoops-a-Daisy-Angel. She has been so excited. As you can imagine, we were very proud of her and all of the children who took part. It’s quite an achievement to stand up on stage in front of a room full of adults – I’m not sure I’d want to do it!”

Alphabet House Day Nursery on Gunthorpe Lane in Lowdham is in a rural location, surrounded by countryside views, yet convenient too just off the A6097 and next to the railway station. The fully equipped day nursery provides a friendly, home from home environment supported by warm, caring and qualified mature staff that has extensive childcare experience.
