A disorganised but lovable angel who is chosen to show the way to Bethlehem stole the show at this year’s Alphabet House Day Nursery Lowdham Christmas play.
Three year old Laura Roberts from Bleasby performed the leading role in the nursery’s Christmas play, called ‘Whoops-a-Daisy-Angel’. The Christmas cast comprising nursery and pre-school children aged from three to five years old played to a packed audience of family and friends.
Lisa Chipping is the nursery manager at Alphabet House Day Nursery White Post. She says: “Christmas is a very special time for everyone at Alphabet House and we’re so pleased that we were able to put on a wonderful performance for the children’s parents. The children have been working very hard on this play since the beginning of November – I know the songs off-by-heart and I’m fairly certain I’ve been singing them in my sleep!”

“Whoops-a-Daisy-Angel’ is the seasonal story of a chaotic angel who is always late and who rushes around making lots of mistakes. Her halo is never straight and she even loses her harp. She is eventually given the most important job of all, guiding the shepherds to Bethlehem for the birth of Christ.
Laura’s mum Zoe said: “Laura just loved playing Whoops-a-Daisy-Angel. She has been so excited. As you can imagine, we were very proud of her and all of the children who took part. It’s quite an achievement to stand up on stage in front of a room full of adults – I’m not sure I’d want to do it!”
