The Eco-Dragon, which was built by members of Newstead Events Group and Newstead Youth Centre, will be stopping off first at Gedling Borough Council’s Civic Hall, where it will be on display in the mall until February.

Eco-artist Sarah Turner helped children create the dragon sculpture, which stands at a metre tall, from CDs, plastic bottles, drinks lids, pop cans and phone top up cards.

The group used nail polish and marker pens to paint beautiful patterns onto each of the scales, which were then attached to a structure built from plastic pipes, bottles, and chicken wire.

This dragon was created as a result of Grants for the Arts funding gained by Future Newstead from the Arts Council England.
