A charity that offers a service to help people in the borough with sight loss get out and about is appealing for volunteers.
Guide Dogs’ My Guide service relies on members of the public to give up a couple of hours a week to guide someone in their local community.
The service helps blind and partially-sighted people regain their independent with volunteers helping them to the shops, the gym or to access services in the local community.

The scheme has grown over the last few years and people in Gedling borough are waiting now to use the service.
Volunteers are carefully matched and help on a one-to-one basis. The role requires two full days’ training initially and a DBS check. The charity will also reimburse all out-of-pocket expenses
Kelly France, engagement officer for Guide Dogs Mobility Team, said: “It’s a great way to meet new people, make friends and make a real difference to someone in the community.”
