Warning after spate of thefts from sheds across Gedling

POLICE are warning residents to be vigilant after a spate of thefts from sheds over the past week across the borough.

A number of sheds have been broken into overnight with bicycles and off road motorbikes being targeted.

These incidents have occurred in the areas of Crifton Road in Burton Joyce, First Avenue in Colwick and Midland Road in Carlton.

In a message to residents, PCSO James Lievesley said: “Please be vigilant and report any suspicious activity by calling 999 if you believe a crime is about to take place or is in progress.”

“Please ensure sheds and outbuildings are locked. Secure bicycles to an anchor inside your shed and consider the use of a battery operated motion detector alarm.

“Tamper proof screws are available from the internet for doors with outward facing hinges. Please ensure that any CCTV is in working order and consider the use of Smartwater on your property.

“Please ensure that where possible all external boundary gates are secured overnight /when your property is left unattended.
