Emergency services carried out a controlled explosion at Gedling Country Park after a suspected World War Two grenade was discovered in Woodthorpe.
Police said the grenade was found in Arno Vale Road at about 19:25 BST on Wednesday.
Engineers took the grenade, which had been pictured in the road, to Gedling Country Park, where a controlled detonation was carried out.
Nottinghamshire Police said no evacuations were necessary due to the “rural location”.
A police statement read: “The grenade, which appeared to be from the Second World War era, was found in Arno Vale Road, Woodthorpe.
“Police cordons were temporarily put in place on the road, while joint services explosive ordinance disposal engineers safely removed the object.
“Bomb disposal experts then carried out a successful controlled explosion soon afterwards. No evacuations were necessary due to the rural location.”
