Sainsbury’s has responded to complaints from shoppers left outraged at the amount of rubbish dumped at their Arnold store’s recycling point.
Yesterday we reported that piles of bin bags, cardboard boxes and old clothes littered the site on Sir John Robinson Way.
A video and photos showing the mess outside the store were shared with Gedling Eye by shopper Cherie Edwards.

The supermarket giant has quickly responded to the complaints and said they hoped to have the problem resolved
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “We’re aware of the issue outside the car park of our Arnold store where refuse is being left in the recycling area.
“We apologise for any inconvenience and are working hard to resolve this.”
The store said the bins there are emptied on a regular basis and that signs clearly state what can be recycled there.
The spokesman added: “Customers can come in to talk to our colleagues if there are any issues.”
Apologising for inconvenience … its disgusting, how exactly are they working hard to resolve it – sent a few strongly worded emails probably !!
Surely it’s not sainsbury fault . It’s is the fault,t of the people who use it . If it doesn’t fit in the containers then take it home . I would say this is fly tipping and you people who are doing it I hope you get caught on camera and prosecuted. Sainsburys would be within their right to remove this service and who would blame the .
I lived around the corner for 15 years and it’s been like it all that time. Camera it up, get license plates and Prosecute!! Its not sainsburys fault that some people around here behave like sh@!!
