Bus passengers across Gedling borough will soon have access to free 4G Wi-Fi during their journey after Nottingham City Transport announced plans to offer internet access on all of its services.
Nottingham’s biggest bus operator will become the first public transport provider in the city to offer free Wi-Fi on every one of its buses.
Nottingham City Transport Marketing Manager Anthony Carver-Smith said: “We first launched free on board Wi-Fi in September 2013, and it proved to be so popular that we quickly aimed to roll it out to our entire network. We’re very proud to have achieved this only two years later.”
Supplied by Swedish-based giants, Icomera, which supplies rail, road and sea operators across the globe, Nottingham City Transport’s superfast, reliable 4G capabilities have been hugely welcomed by passengers over the last two years, and the UK’s 2014 Bus Operator of the Year has recorded an incredible 2 million individual Wi-Fi sessions since it first went live.
Anthony Carver-Smith added: “Using free Wi-Fi really enables our passengers to really make the most of their time on board – whether that’s checking what they’re about to face when they walk into the office, or enjoying a bit of ‘gaming downtime’ after a hard day’s work,”
