A 20-year-old man has been sentenced after police found a machete tucked inside his jogging bottoms following a fall from a motorbike in an Arnold McDonald’s car park.
Kallam Clifton was spotted riding an off-road motorcycle around the drive-thru and restaurant in Sir John Robinson Way at around 4.20am on 25 August 2026.
Police said Clifton and another rider shouted abuse and taunted officers as they rode around the car park.
Clifton then lost his balance and fell from the bike before running from officers.
Following a short foot chase, officers detained him and discovered a large machete tucked inside his jogging bottoms.
Police said the 20-year-old then shouted to the other motorcyclist to “run them over” while officers were detaining him.
The machete was seized.
Clifton was also given a breath test and recorded 56 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
Clifton, of Mountfield Drive, Nottingham, pleaded guilty to possession of a knife in a public place, drink-driving and driving without a licence or insurance.
He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday (30), where he was given a community order which includes 120 hours of unpaid work.
Police Constable Dan Armstrong, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Clifton was whizzing around the car park in a highly antisocial manner while he and the other rider shouted abuse at officers.
“However, his bike handling skills did not match the taunts and he fell off.
“We then discovered he was putting himself at serious risk of harm by tearing around with a large machete stuffed down his jogging bottoms.
“Simply by being out on the streets with this weapon Clifton was committing a very serious offence.
“We remain keen to speak to the other bike rider so if you have any information which could assist us, please get in touch.”
