A football club has announced it will be accepting matchday payments in digital currency during the new season.
Carlton Town will accept Bitcoin from fans buying tickets, food and drink at their stadium on Stoke Lane as an alternative to card and cash.
Digital payments will start being accepted from this weekend when the club hosts a massive pre-season game against Merthyr Town.
The club said they are hoping the decision to accept Bitcoin will help attract ‘a different audience’.
They said the only difference customers will see is the creation of a separate terminal accepting Bitcoin for matchday entry to the ground.
