Calverton career criminal called ‘heartless’ after targeting Mapperley couple with newborn baby

A career criminal from Calverton who targeted a couple with a newborn baby has been jailed.

Michael Wilson, aged 49, snuck into the Ford S-Max in the middle on the night after finding it unlocked on a private driveway in Mapperley.

He then stole a purse from inside a large bag containing items for the baby, such as wipes and clothes.

Nottingham Crown Court heard he then took a bank card out of the purse and used it to buy cigarettes and tobacco at several service stations.

Police recognised him after viewing CCTV footage and arrested him.

He initially denied the offences and the matter went to trial, during which he changed his plea and admitted four counts of fraud by false representation and handling stolen goods.

He was jailed for 14 months on Wednesday (17).

The court heard the offences took place in October 2021 and that Wilson, of Labray Road, Calverton, was a prolific offender, with 84 offences to his name including 110 for theft – dating back to 1989.

Detective Inspector Julian Eminson-Ferry, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Wilson would have known he was targeting a young family as the bag he rummaged through had a number of items for the couple’s newborn baby.

“Yet he still stole the purse and spent the family’s hard-earned money at a string of locations. I can only describe him as heartless.

“Such has been the number of times we’ve had to arrest him, officers immediately recognised him from CCTV footage and put him before the courts.

“Sadly, he continued to show no remorse and took the case to trial. Owing to the overwhelming evidence against him, he did finally change his pleas to guilty – and I’m glad he has now been sentenced.

“I hope he uses his time in prison to reflect on his actions and the impact they have on innocent victims, so that he makes better choices when he is released.”

Artificial intelligence in slot games: a new level of entertainment

The world of slot games is constantly evolving, and technological advances continue to open up new horizons for players and online casino operators. One of the most exciting innovations in this field is the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into slot games. AI not only improves the quality of the game, but also provides a more personalised and interactive experience for players. From enhanced graphics and animations to smart algorithms that analyse gaming habits and provide individualised recommendations, AI is taking entertainment to a whole new level.

At the same time, modern online casinos are trying to attract new players with various promotions and bonuses. One of the most attractive offers is free spins no deposit not on Gamestop. This type of bonus allows players to try their hand at slot games without having to invest their own money. Thanks to this, players can enjoy the games, learn new slots and even win real money without any financial risks.

The combination of innovative artificial intelligence and attractive bonuses, such as no deposit free spins, makes modern slot games extremely exciting. These innovations not only increase the level of player satisfaction but also open up new opportunities for the development of the online casino industry. In this article, we will take a look at how AI is changing the face of slot games and why no deposit free spins have become so popular among players.

History and evolution of slot games

The history of slot games dates back to the end of the 19th century. In 1891, the first slot machine was created by Sittman and Pitt in Brooklyn, New York. It had five reels with 50 playing cards and was based on poker. Players dropped a coin and pulled a lever to spin the reels. Prizes depended on the poker combinations that appeared on the reels, but there were no automatic payouts – winnings were calculated manually.

In 1895, Charles Fay, a mechanic from San Francisco, created the first automatic payout machine, which he called “Liberty Bell”. This machine had three reels and five symbols: a horseshoe, a diamond, a spade, a heart and a cracked liberty bell. The combination of three liberty bells gave the biggest win – 50 cents. “Liberty Bell became the prototype for all future slot machines.

In 1963, Bally Manufacturing created the first electromechanical machine called Money Honey. This machine had an electromechanical design and could automatically pay out up to 500 coins. Replacing the lever with a button and increasing the maximum payout significantly increased the popularity of slots.

In 1976, Fortune Coin developed the first video slot. It used a modified 19-inch Sony colour TV to display the game. Video slots quickly gained popularity, and by 1978, International Gaming Technology (IGT) acquired Fortune Coin Company, which led to the further development of this technology.

With the advent of the Internet in the 1990s, slot games moved to the online space. In 1994, the first online casino platform was created by Microgaming. Online slots quickly became popular due to their accessibility and the ability to play from anywhere.

Today, slot games continue to evolve with the latest technologies. Mobile slots allow you to play on the go, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) provides a personalised experience for each player. AI analyses gambling habits and provides individual recommendations, increasing the enjoyment of the game.

Technical aspects of AI implementation in slot games

In the modern era of technological progress, artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming an integral part of many industries, and the online casino industry is no exception. The introduction of AI in slot games opens up new horizons for both players and casino operators. It allows to create a more personalised and immersive experience, optimise gaming platforms, and increase security.

The technical aspects of implementing AI in slot games include a wide range of innovative solutions. From the use of machine learning algorithms to analyse players’ gaming habits to the integration of chatbots to improve customer service, AI is changing the face of slot games. Modern technologies allow us to create dynamic gaming environments that adapt to the preferences of each player, ensuring maximum enjoyment.

  • Machine learning and algorithms. One of the main AI technologies is machine learning, which allows systems to learn from data and improve without explicit programming. In slot games, machine learning can be used to create adaptive gaming experiences that adjust to the individual preferences of players.
  • Random number generation (RNG). Random number generation is a key component of any slot game. Thanks to AI and machine learning, it is possible to improve random number generation algorithms, making them more unpredictable and fair.
  • Personalisation of gaming experience. AI allows creating individual gaming experiences for each player. Based on the analysis of data on player behaviour, algorithms can offer special bonuses, change the difficulty of the game, or even adapt graphics and sound to individual preferences.

Benefits for players

  • Increased interaction. Thanks to AI, slot games are becoming more interactive. Players can interact with the gaming environment in a new way, getting more pleasure from the game process.
  • Improved security. AI helps to detect fraud and ensure player safety. For example, algorithms can detect suspicious behaviour and prevent possible threats.
  • Personalised bonuses and rewards. AI algorithms can analyse game data and offer individual bonuses and rewards, which increases the motivation of players to continue playing.

How to make money from home by playing casinos in 2024

The gambling industry in general and online casinos in particular kasyno Jeton is entertainment. This is also warned by the rules of responsible gaming of any online casino, which they are obliged to publish.

In addition, on the site you can see various bonus offers, for example, Ice Casino kod na darmowe spiny.

As a rule, such incentive bonuses will help you to choose a new game without spending too much. But the fact that there are users who profit from such leisure activities regularly, proves that it is possible to earn on it. The main secret is to treat this activity not as a pastime, but as a serious activity that requires an understanding of the processes and preparation.

Which Slot machines to Choose

Machines in online casinos is controlled by a random number generator. Only he determines what combination will appear on the reel. Software manufacturers only put in the code a certain RTP – percentage return. In European casinos, in accordance with the law it is not less than 90%.

To play productively, you need to be aware of several facts. First – 10% of users take out of the casino 90% of the money. The rest, at best, keep their money. The second fact is that casinos and gambling companies are not interested in cheating users. Projects get the influx of customers only through advertising and good reviews, only marked as a good gambling machines will be in demand in the gaming room. The only problem is that casinos can’t operate at a loss. If someone is earning, then someone is losing. And the task of the user is not so much to earn as not to lose – not to join the group that does not take money out of the casino, but leaves it.

In order not to become a source of income for others, it is enough to follow simple rules:

  • Play only with your own and free funds, so that the anxiety for excessive spending does not interfere with thinking soberly;
  • Go to the casino only when you really have time, when no one distracts you and does not interfere with your concentration
  • Do not play when you are upset or drunk;
  • prescribe in advance the limits – how much money can be spent and what the amount will be a signal that it is time to fix profits and withdraw funds.

The choice of a machine should also be taken seriously. Games from young dubious producers, about the license of which nothing is known, should be left. Guarantees payouts are only software long-established reputation providers. In any case, after a large credit (jackpot, an expensive combination) should immediately end the game and not come in for at least a few days. This will keep from involuntarily covering the excitement, and allow you to withdraw the amount, and then decide which of its share to put back into circulation.

Advantages of Games with Non-random Victories

Cards and roulette are also machines in which the output depends on a random number generator. But it is up to the player to choose which moves to make. Tips are both statistics and tables of algorithms that allow you to calculate the actions of an automatic opponent. The player can keep track of cards or numbers, guess what the opponent will do, even if he is real, and make his own moves based on this analysis. According to statistics, even such actions turn the chance of success to a ratio of 78% in favor of the player. Lose in such games those who naively decided to bet real money, not understanding what exactly is happening in the party.

Additionally, the chance of winning will increase a clear understanding of the rules of the game, brought to automatism. The player should perform mechanical actions without thinking, in order to concentrate all the forces on calculating the actions. Automation or table-tips, which are easy to find on the network for each game, helps to do just that. The value of such tools speaks to the fact that in land-based casinos, they are prohibited on a par with card-counting software. The visitor who pulls such schemes will simply be taken out of the gambling hall. You can practice on the demo account – another service, which in land-based casinos simply does not exist.

Additional Ways of Earning at Casinos

Money in online casinos brings slots. But increase the amount in the account and additional features. The main thing is not to forget to use them and activate in time, because automatic participation in promotions in European projects is prohibited. Money or benefits can be obtained:

  • as a result of participation in the promotion – deposit bonuses, no deposit gifts;
  • for activity in the casino – as prizes for tournaments or lotteries, under the program achievements;
  • for subscriptions and downloads of applications or contests in social networks and on friendly platforms;
  • for loyalty to a specific project under the loyalty program;
  • for advertising the casino and referring other users through a referral link.

To get the most, you just need to follow the news – subscribe, as advised by the casino administration, to all feeds and social networks and check your email regularly.

Effective measures to ensure your online accounts

Users can employ several good practices that ensure their online accounts have a good level of protection against the threat of hackers and prevent any unauthorized access. Following these measures should make your online accounts robust and less likely to potential cyber threats. Additionally, using only reputable websites can enhance your security. For example, if users are looking for a gambling site, a list of regulated and secure casino sites can be found at online casino reviews UK.

Some of the effective measures that users can take to enhance their security include choosing strong passwords to protect personal data and possibly increasing security by adding two-factor authentication. You should also think about the amount of personal data you share online and who can see this on our social media platforms.

By taking a proactive approach to the online security of your accounts with a range of sensible actions should result in your personal and sensitive financial data being safeguarded from cyber-attacks and any unauthorized access. Implementing these steps will increase your online security.

  1. Use Strong Passwords.

The use of strong passwords is vital for online accounts to protect your personal information and prevent unauthorized access from hackers. Many organizations now recommend that a strong password should consist of a mixture of upper and lower case letters, along with numbers and special characters. Users are advised not to use personal information in their choice of password, as well as memorable words or sequential numbers.

It is also advisable to have unique passwords for each online account, which will give users an extra layer of security. This ensures if the security of one of your online accounts is breached it does not put your whole online profile at risk from hacking.

Users have the option of using a Password Manager, which uses cutting-edge encryption to store and manage multiple passwords. The password manager can generate and store strong passwords, which means you do not have to remember many passwords for each application. This adds a top level of security to your online accounts and reduces the chances of cyber-attacks on your sensitive personal data.

  • Two-factor Authentication.

Many applications that store personal and financially sensitive information offer extra security with two-factor authentication. If this feature is enabled it provides extra security by requiring two forms of verification before allowing access to an application.

Typically in two-factor authentication users are required to enter a password and then pass a further level of authentication. This can take several options such as a code sent to the user’s mobile number or a fingerprint scan.  The significant advantage of two-factor authentication is that if someone obtains your password it automatically grants them access to your sensitive data.

  • Regularly update software and applications.

In order to keep your online accounts safe and secure you should keep your software and applications updated. This can be achieved automatically by enabling updates or responding to notifications of updates to applications. Developers are constantly amending software to fix bugs or issue a patch following a cyber-attack. Keeping your systems and applications updated and up to date with the latest versions offers an extra level of protection. A large number of cyber-attacks are successfully carried out on software and operating systems that do not have the latest security patches and have known vulnerabilities. It is essential for users to keep their systems updated to achieve an effective level of online security.

  • Configure security settings on Social Media platforms.

Social media platforms often contain a considerable amount of personal information on their users. It is important for users who wish to increase their online security they use the features provided by social media platforms to restrict personal accounts to protect the privacy of their users and ensure sensitive data is not freely available to everyone on the platform.

There are security settings and features on social media platforms that can be configured to limit access to your personal data. These features increase the user’s privacy and online security and users on the platform can access your profile or contact you. It is also important to review these settings on a regular basis to keep your online presence safe because social media can change settings and security features on their platforms.

  • Limit the amount of personal data online.

Users should take care to limit the amount of personal data that is shared or visible online, with details including name, address, phone number, date of birth, and other sensitive information. Cybercriminals can use this personal data to build up a profile of a user and then use this profile to commit identity fraud or other nefarious criminal activities. To enhance your online security you should take care with the amount and type of personal data shared online, as this will reduce your vulnerability to fraudulent cyber-crimes.

Co-op, Nisa and Tesco applaud new bill to crackdown on retail crime

Supermarket bosses have welcomed the news that attacking or abusing a shopworker will be made a standalone offence in yesterday’s (17) King’s Speech

The Co-op, Tesco and Nisa said they were delighted that plans to have this made a law was now in motion.

The Co-op described the King’s Speech as a “crowning moment” for shop workers, marking a positive shift in the crackdown on repeat and prolific offenders amid unprecedented levels of retail crime.

The firm, which has shops in Arnold, Burton Joyce, Gedling, Carlton and Mapperley, said it had recorded more than 172,000 incidents of retail crime across the UK in the first half of 2024.

They said that while the rate of increase ‘had slowed’, this figure still marks a 4% rise on last year’s levels of crime and a 42% jump since 2022.

Co-op director of campaign and public affairs Paul Gerrard said: “Today’s news marks a seismic shift in the crackdown on retail crime, and will send a clear and powerful message to those who think it is acceptable to attack, assault or abuse shopworkers that, put quite simply, the law does not accept this behaviour and, it will now make it easier and much more straightforward for the authorities to investigate and prosecute – which means all shopworkers will be safer.”

Tesco CEO Ken Murphy, who also welcomed the early commitment from the government to protect shop workers, said: “Retail colleagues are the backbone of the everyday economy and they deserve to feel safe at work. It is right that the government, police and business come together to collectively send the strongest signal that these crimes will not be tolerated.”

Nisa MD Peter Batt said it was an “encouraging” move, but called for independent retailers to be included in these protections.

According to the 2024 Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) Crime Report, 87% of colleagues in convenience stores faced verbal abuse, including around 76,000 violent incidents against retail staff.

ACS chief executive James Lowman added: “We strongly welcome the government’s commitment to take action on the assaults of retail workers, which local shops have been calling for over many years. We are also encouraged by the specific reference to tackling shoplifting, which is the blight of so many communities and funds the activity of gangs, addicts and dangerous criminals.”

As well as introducing a separate offence for assaulting a retail worker, the government announced that stronger measures to tackle low level shoplifting will also be put in place.

British Retail Consortium (BRC) chief executive Helen Dickinson said: “The government must ensure this bill protects all those in customer-facing roles, from delivery drivers to till staff, particularly as more risk violence or abuse as they enforce new age restrictions on tobacco products.

“We also welcome the bill’s introduction of stronger measures to tackle shoplifting and anti-social behaviour. This is a timely intervention at a time when retail crime is costing retailers and their customers £3.3 billion a year.”

Extra £5m to repair Nottinghamshire roads after ‘devastating’ winter

Nottinghamshire County Council is planning on spending an extra £4.8m to repair roads following one of the wettest winters in recent memory.

The county was struck by widespread flooding from Storms Babet in October and Henk in January, with the exceptionally wet weather taking a toll on the roads.

More than 22,000 potholes had to be repaired in the county between October 2023 and March 2024 – three times the number for the same period the previous winter.

Insurance claims against the council also doubled to more than 2,300.

The cabinet will next week (July 25) consider plans to spend an extra £4.8m to repair the long-term damage and prepare for the coming winter.

It would add two extra teams to deal with serious potholes and road problems, along with seven large-scale patching schemes to target the Nottinghamshire areas which have deteriorated most.

This is on top of the council’s approved £33m highways budget for this financial year.

The work will be carried out by Via, the council-owned company which is responsible for highway maintenance.

“Via’s capacity to both respond to the storm events and also tackle the damage to the network was severely tested,” a report going before Cabinet says.

“Whilst extra resources were put in place at the beginning of the winter to continue with follow up repairs to Category 1 defects [the most serious non-emergency potholes], there was a need to temporarily increase the amount of safety repairs with follow-up repairs being planned for 24/25.”

Very wet weather in winter can cause increased damage to roads when rainwater freezes.

Storm Babet in October 2023 saw 124mm of rain fall on Nottinghamshire in just three days, while another 75mm fell during Storm Henk in December.

Both caused widespread disruption, with dozens of roads closed and more 1,600 homes and businesses flooded.

Extra resources to prevent more flooding have also been put into emptying gulleys and clearing ditches.

There have been frequent complaints about the state of the roads since the winter, with one group of people in Gedling turning their frustration into a calendar of potholes.
