A rise in the age threshold for adult bus fares is just the ticket for teenagers using public transport across Gedling borough.
Young people aged 16 and 17 currently pay adult fares on Nottingham City Transport buses – but from the end of this month the minimum age for adult tickets will rise to 18.
This means that anyone below the age of 18 will now be able to catch an NCT bus for £1.
The changes come into effect from Sunday, August 28 and the bus firm hope apprentices, college and sixth form students from across the borough will reap the rewards.

Anthony Carver-Smith, Marketing Manager at Nottingham City Transport said: “With young people required to stay in further education, an apprenticeship or traineeship upon completion of their GCSEs, our adjustment to the age threshold for reduced fares makes travel more affordable as young people continue their education”.
For all students of any age looking to drive down the cost of travel even further, Nottingham City Transport also offers academic and calendar year Easyrider smart cards – the cheapest way to travel in and around Nottingham.
Students purchasing an academic or calendar year Easyrider pass before October 22, 2016 can take advantage of limited time reduced rates of £219 and £229 respectively.
Passes go on sale from the NCT Travel Centre in Old Market Square, from August 27 and offer travel from just 65p per day.
