A primary school in Carlton praised for its ‘ambitious’ curriculum has received a ‘good’ Ofsted rating.
Hogarth Academy, which is part of L.E.A.D. Multi-Academy Trust family of schools, on Porchester Road, was also hailed by inspectors for being a school where staff are ‘determined to empower all pupils including those who are disadvantaged, to be well-prepared for the next stage of their education’.
The Ofsted inspection was carried out at the school in May 2024.
The report described the curriculum as ‘well-considered and adapted to best suit pupils’ needs’.
It said: “Pupils are enthusiastic to work hard and learn well, displaying positive behaviour for their lessons. They learn how to recognise and manage their emotions and receive extra support to make appropriate choices.
It also remarked that ‘reading is given the highest priority in the school’ through a well-stocked library to develop pupils’ love of reading and a strong phonics programme.
