In both incidents offenders have got inside the houses and stolen car keys before taking the vehicles.

Neighbourhood Inspector Chris Pearson said: “We’re taking these incidents really seriously and we will be increasing police patrols.

“Burglary incidents can be incredibly distressing and leaves the home owner with a series of practical and emotional issues to resolve. If a vehicle is stolen it then results in the owner being without transport and often unable to get to work.

“Whilst crimes like this are rare, vehicles are a tempting target for a house burglar and can be stolen in a matter of seconds.

“Thieves are often looking for an easy opportunity and simple security measures can help to deter them.

“I’d ask our residents to keep keys out of sight and not in your front door or hallway. Don’t leave windows open on ground floors and consider a simple security camera or light which can often act as a deterrent.

“Clearly we are very keen to find the person responsible for these crimes and would particularly like to speak to anyone who might have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area over recent days.

”If you do have any information, please contact us on 101 quoting incident number 135 of 19 September. You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
