0

Patients in Carlton are being invited to have their say on access to primary care services like GP appointments by taking part in a new NHS survey.

NHS chiefs want to hear from patients about their experiences when trying to access services and also get a better understanding about what impact putting Willows Medical Centre into special measures has had on patients and surgeries in the area.

People in Carlton who wish to take part can do so online by going to www.surveymonkey.com/r/GPCarlton, by filling in a form at their surgery or by calling 0800 028 3693 (option 2) and request either a survey is sent by post or you can complete over the phone.

Rise in TV Licence fraud emails across Gedling borough

0

Fraudsters are issuing fake TV Licence refund emails to people in Gedling borough in a bid to steal victim bank account details.

Scam-busters Action Fraud said there has been a rise in the number of potential victims reporting the scam email this week.

The scam email claims to offer the recipient a refund for over-payments of TV Licence fees, but then states the victim’s bank details need to be updated before the refund can be issued.

The email then links to a website designed to look like TV Licensing’s own website with a form for victims to enter their details. In reality the website has been set up to look authentic but the form steal victim’s bank details, giving the fraudsters the chance to steal the victim’s savings.

‘Too early’ for decision on dog ban at park’s new visitors’ centre says Gedling Borough Council

0

Gedling Borough Council has said it’s ‘too early’ to make a decision on whether to ban dogs from the new visitors’ centre at Gedling Country Park despite claims online that pooches wouldn’t be welcome.

Residents took to the Streetlife Carlton forum earlier in the week to voice their anger at claims the council had already decided to ban dogs from the new centre and café when they open to the public in the Spring.

But today Gedling Borough Council leader John Clarke told Gedling Eye that a decision hasn’t yet been made.

He said: “In relation to whether or not we will allow dogs into the visitors’ centre at Gedling Country Park it is, at this time, too early to a reach a decision on this.

“Our plan is to have the Visitors’ Centre open next spring, and we will be discussing exactly how the café will operate in due course with our commercial operator.

“We will certainly be allowing guide dogs and their owners to fully use the facilities but the question about general access to dogs with their owners is still to be discussed.

He added: “Our ambition and plan is to make Gedling Country park a real destination venue, and with its spectacular views and facilities we feel we will achieve just that.”

Secondary school place race begins…

0

Parents with children starting secondary school next year are being urged to apply for places now or risk missing out on their first choice.

Applications for children transferring from primary schools to secondary schools across Nottinghamshire next September must be in by Saturday, October 31, 2016.

Parents are being warned that if they apply after the deadline, their submission will only be processed after all the on-time ones are completed; this could result in their first choice school being full.

The county council will then make an alternative offer of a place at a school which could be at a distance from your home address.

Campaign to save terminally-ill Arnold police officer raises £12k in just four days

0

A campaign to help save a terminally-ill Arnold man who has been given just months to live has raised £12,000 in just four days.

The family of police officer Sgt Phil Hogg launched the campaign over the weekend to help find £60,000 to pay for him to have pioneering cancer treatment in Germany

The 51-year-old from Arnold was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July last year and was told he only had months to live.

Determined to fight the disease he underwent significant surgery towards the end of last year and travels from his home in Arnold every fortnight to receive chemotherapy.

Supported by his wife Adele and two children Robert, 26, and Madeleine, 15, an appeal was launched on Friday (9) to help raise £60,000 to send Phil to the Hallwang Clinic in Germany, a private oncology clinic, for Immunotherapy Treatment – a treatment not available in the UK.

Doctors at the clinic have said they are confident that they can get Phil into remission.
