A grant of more than £170k has been given to a building preservation group to pay for the repair and refurbishment of a historic buildings in Gedling.
The Gedling Station restoration project has been awarded a grant of £173.286 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Using money raised by National Lottery players The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage.
The group plan to use the cash to help restore the former Gedling Railway Station and Youth Club building on Shearing Hill to its former glory and also renovate the grounds,
A spokesman for the group said: “It will add ‘a much needed community space for the benefit of groups of all ages and a multitude of activities.’
The National Lottery Heritage Fund is the largest funder for the UK’s heritage.
It uses money raised by National Lottery players to support projects that connect people and communities to heritage.
Their vision is for heritage to be valued, cared for and sustained for everyone, now and in the future.
A spokesman for the National Lottery Heritage Fund said: “We believe in the power of heritage to ignite the imagination, offer joy and inspiration, and to build pride in place and connection to the past.”
