Gedling mayor is first to buy poppy to launch this year’s appeal

GEDLING’s First Citizen bought the first poppy today to mark the launch of this year’s Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Mayor Cllr Meredith Lawrence collected his poppy during a ceremony at the Civic Centre, in Arnot Hill Park, this morning.

The Mayor was joined by Mayoress Wendy Lawrence, MP Vernon Coaker and representatives from the local Royal British Legion groups to launch the appeal.

From today members of the public can now buy a poppy from reception in the Civic Centre.
