Firefighters tackle blaze at derelict office block in Arnold

Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service have spent the afternoon tackling a blaze at an old derelict office block in Rolleston Drive, Arnold.

Firefighters posted on social media that the incident is’ now being scaled down’.

Officers revealed that 30 firefighters were drafted in to tackle the blaze at the site.

It is not yet known what caused the fire.

Deputy leader of Gedling Borough Council, Cllr Michael Payne, who is councillor for the Redhill ward, was expecting to speak to Nottinghamshire Police and also Nottinghamshire Fire Rescue this evening for an update.

He said: “In recent years and months I have consistently been raising concerns about the safety and state of the derelict site with Nottinghamshire County Council, who own the premises. Only recently I was expressing my serious concern about vandalism on the site.

He added: “I sincerely hope no-one has been injured and wish our emergency services the best in dealing with the fire.”
