Council makes final appeal for ex-miners and workers from Gedling Colliery to get in touch

A council are making a final appeal for former miners at Gedling Colliery to get in touch in a bid to reunite them for an event being held to mark 25 years since the pit’s closure.

Gedling Borough Council say that nearly 100 ex-miners and workers from the colliery have now been in touch since they first put out the appeal late last month, but there are still plenty more to find.

Those who have been in touch with the council are being invited to a special event to be held on November 7 at the former Gedling Miners Welfare Club, which is being organised with help from Friends of Gedling County Park.

Any ex-miners or family members of people who worked at the pit are to contact one of the event organisers, Rob McCleary, on 0115 901 3773 or by email communications@gedling.gov.uk with their details.
