A man has been arrested after police seized significant amounts of cannabis, suspected cocaine and cash during raids on two homes in a Newstead Village.
Neighbourhood officers executed warrants at two addresses in Newstead Village at around 3pm on Wednesday, September 30, as part of a crackdown on suspected drug dealing in the area.
Police said cannabis was discovered inside both properties, along with a smaller quantity of suspected cocaine, deal lists, weighing scales and other items believed to be linked to drug supply.
Officers also seized an extendable baton, mobile phones, electronic devices and cash.

A 45-year-old man found inside one of the properties was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a Class A drug.
Sergeant Zoe Connellan, from the neighbourhood policing team, said officers had acted following concerns raised by local residents.
She said: “We know from recent community engagement that drug use and supply is a concern in the village and had reason to suspect these two homes were being used by dealers.
“Significant amounts of cannabis were seized when we forced open the doors and a suspected drug dealer was arrested.
“Raids and arrests like this can seriously disrupt drug supply and our efforts demonstrate how seriously we take these issues.
“Criminal activity of this nature brings nothing but problems to a community so it was pleasing to take positive action against it.
“It is always good news when we can take drugs and weapons off the streets, as well as seize cash which we suspect to have been sourced through criminality.”
She also thanked the force’s priority tasking team and City North neighbourhood officers for their support in carrying out the warrants.
The investigation remains ongoing.
