There have been calls for action in Stoke Bardolph as two councillors say the village is ‘under siege’ from illegal fly-tipping.
Councillors Sam Smith and Mike Adams, who represent Stoke Bardolph and surrounding areas on Gedling Borough Council, are campaigning for the installation of permanent CCTV to deter and catch the culprits relentless and illegal fly-tipping along Catts Lane.
“The regular fly-tipping on Catts Lane is an absolute disgrace — it’s beyond outrageous and completely unacceptable. Enough is enough,” said Cllr Sam Smith.
“While temporary surveillance and increased warden patrols have been used on, they have failed to stop the recurring dumping of waste on Catts Lane, which continues to blight the beautiful village and local environment and cause distress to residents.”
Cllr Mike Adams said: “Cllr Sam Smith and I have been raising this issue for years, working alongside the community, pushing for a simple solution that would protect the village from continuous fly-tipping. Stoke Bardolph deserves better.”
“It’s time for real action — not temporary fixes. Permanent CCTV is long overdue, and we won’t stop pushing until it’s in place.”

May be if the councilors cared to investigate just how slow and expensive their bulk waste collection is, they may see the root of the problem. £40 for a chair and 2 seat sofa, with a wait of 2 to 4 weeks for collection. Or you could try the local tip, just make sure you have your briefcase full of the correct paperwork with you.
A lot of the Council vans are parked round about there most days of the week so it surprises me that they haven’t seen or heard anything ?
Don’t suppose the Council can afford any specialist cctv after all the money spent on making sure all of the Borough”s blue flag parks look nice & of course not forgetting the truly unforgettable AMP ?
