Gedling borough Christmas lights switch-on round-up

Gedling towns and villages will light up with festive cheer in a series of Christmas light switch-ons over the next week.

Arnold’s main event will take place on Thursday, November 26, from 5.30pm, with an evening of fun and entertainment. There will be performances from the local school choirs and also Methodist youth band Altar. Refreshments will also be available during the event from the Methodist Church Hall. The Mayor of Gedling, councillor Meredith Lawrence, will arrive into Eagle Square at 6pm to officially flick the switch.

On Friday (27) The Mapperley Plains School choir will be performing before the big switch-on at Mapperley Top from 4.45pm

Carlton Square, Gedling Village and Calverton will all be lighting up their town and village centres on Saturday, November 28.

Villagers in Calverton are invited to the memorial hall to see the lights being turned on from 3.15pm.

Carlton Square will be lit up from 3.30pm. There will be tea and coffee available as well as mince pies; a local choir will also be performing.

Gedling residents can head into the village and see the Mayor of Gedling hit the switch at 6pm. After the lights switch-on, visitors can enjoy refreshments, Christmas songs and meet Santa in the Memorial Hall from 6.15pm.

Head into Lambley on Tuesday, December 1 at 6pm if you want to see the village get their festive lights turned on. Refreshments will be available from the W.I

Those free on Thursday afternoon (December 3) can head to Carlton Hill and see the lights switched on from 3.30pm

In Netherfield the big switch-on takes place on Friday, December 4 when the Mayor of Gedling will arrive to flick the switch at 5.15pm. Santa will also be making an appearance.

Ravenshead’s lights will be turned on at 4pm on Saturday, December 4.
