The 27-year-old victim was left with injuries not deemed to be life-threatening or life-altering after reportedly being attacked by a group carrying weapons.

Yasir Alyas, 29, has since been charged by detectives with wounding with intent and possessing a bladed article in public.

Alyas, of Oakdale Road, Carlton, is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (25).

A 25-year-old man previously arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent has been released on conditional bail as inquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Chris Mavers, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The violence demonstrated during this incident was completely unacceptable and in no way belongs anywhere near our communities.

“We are pleased to have now charged a suspect in connection with this assault but want to stress that our inquiries are still ongoing.

“Bearing this in mind, we’d ask anyone who has any information and hasn’t come forward yet to please do so by contacting the police on 101, quoting incident 858 of 23 April 2024, or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
