Residents are being asked to have their say on the futures of leisure centres in Carlton.
Gedling Borough Council has said two of their leisure centres are ‘costly to maintain’.
People are being invited to their say onthe futures of Carlton Forum Leisure Centre and Richard Herrod Centre
A spokesman said:”Our leisure centres are increasingly costly to maintain and require modernisation to meet the current and future needs of our residents.
“This presents an opportunity to move away from outdated infrastructure and invest in modern, efficient, community-focused facilities that better support the health, wellbeing and connectedness of our residents.
“The Leisure Transformation consultation focuses on the proposal to redefine the leisure offer in the Carlton area from the current Carlton Forum Leisure Centre and Richard Herrod Centre into a new, combined, purpose-built Carlton Leisure, Wellbeing and Community Centre on the Richard Herrod site. This new centre is envisioned as a vibrant, welcoming destination that would bring together leisure, health and community services under one roof. “

Here’s what they will do. 1) Rebuild Richard Herrod and demolish Carlton Forum. 2) Cause utter chaos for puils at Calton Academy. 3) Sell the Carlton Forum car park to build houses, causing futher chaos for parents dropping off and collecting their children from the school. 4) Spend any cost savings on Arnold.

No it is true. why waist money elsewhere when only one of our towns is popular and people want to visit Does carlton have a massive summer fair? No but we do and reason for that it is a town people want to visit
Oh yes! Such a lovely place Arnold Lad. Explain then why Police enforced a dispersal order in the town centre over the weekend, Bet that attracted more tourists.
Well Arnold had b****r all until they moved the Council offices to Arnot Park. The Gedling Show was in Carlton, Carlton Square had a huge Christmas tree in front of the old offices. And what of Arnold now???? Souring crime that needs special measures, yeah , nice. Afnold is certainly nothing special but rows of charity shops and a £3 million waste of space and now you want another 50 million? Nah, you need to take the beam out of your own back yard before the splinter from someone else’s. As for Carlton Forum? Was always councils intention to shut it down to save money. And £220000 won’t buy diddly squat sports facilities for the former Wheldon School will it. Won’t exactly buy, Squash courts, badminton courts, basketball courts ball, swimming pool and everything else it currently provides the pupils with, I used every one of them in my time at the school. GBC, useless, utterly useless.

I can only pray our glorius benefactors will use their fine wisdom to, as others have suggested, close them both down and send all the money where it is least needed, Arnold.
People are starting to realize the money is needed to improve Arnold our capital our London. Has any other town got WHSmiths no. A Greggs no. A big Asda no.

No way are you from Arnold as you wood have more respect for this town. People who live in this town love this town and I talk to them every day and they no the rest of the area is rubbish and that this town can save the area. Our park is magnificant and so is the town centre like the AMP and Greggs and McDonalds and B&M and a big Asda. Why waist money elsewhere when we can make this capital the pride of Nottingham. Laugh all you like it is my belief and will call for it as Newsted abbey is part of Gedling and the capital of Gedling is Arnold so he should be buried heir as nothing to do with hucknall and people I talk to do not want to go to Hucknall so bring him here and berry him in Arnold town centre.
