The MP for Gedling has issued a statement following the murder of a woman in her 20s in Mapperley and urged anyone with information about the incident to contact police.
Police were called to an address in Westdale Lane West at 10.07pm last night (21) following concerns for a person’s safety.
Emergency services attended and a woman, in her twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is now being treated as a murder investigation.
A man in his 40s was arrested by police this afternoon.

Michael Payne released a statement today (August 7) on his social media channels.
He said: “I am deeply saddened by the loss of a young woman’s life following the tragic incident that occurred overnight on Tuesday, October 21 on Westdale Lane.
“My thoughts and condolences are with her family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time. I understand they are being supported by specially trained officers.
“A murder investigation has now been launched, and a dedicated team of detectives is working tirelessly to establish what happened.
Michael Payne MP urged the public to help police wit their investigation if they had any information.
“I urge anyone who was in the area before, during, or after the incident – or who may have CCTV, dash-cam, or mobile phone footage – to come forward and assist the police.
“Residents will notice an increased police presence in the area over the coming days as police officers carry out additional patrols and continue their enquiries.
“I would like to reassure the community that this is believed to be an isolated incident and that there is no wider risk to the public.
“I will remain in close contact with Nottinghamshire Police colleagues and local authorities as the investigation progresses.”
