When will council cash be spent on Netherfield?
I must say I am very disappointed to read that Netherfield isn’t on the list of places to benefit from council investment during the year ahead (STORY HERE).
The town has been neglected with green space nearby being taken away and no facilities here really, yet money can be found to extend Gedling Country Park, which is not needed in my opinion and can’t be accessed by those in Netherfield who don’t have a car.
Arnold did again make the list. Just how much money are the council going to spend on that town?
Residents here need a lift and the council should look at making improvements to the town centre and attract new local businesses here.
No money has been spent here for years.

Sadness at Matlock train news
It’s awful to hear that East Midlands Railway is pulling the plug on the direct train to Matlock.
Myself and my wife have used it on numerous occasions to get to the Peaks and the route is very scenic.
Let’s hope it gets brought back due to passenger demand.
It’s a real asset to the local community.

All doom and gloom
Could we have a ‘good news day’ on your site, Editor?
I am always greeted by doom and gloom headlines about crime, covid and green belt land going when I look through your homepage.
I think it would be good for people’s mental health to ban the bad news for one day a week and find stories that will give people something to smile about.
It’s worth thinking about.

Lagoons are ‘real asset’
Since lockdown I have been visiting Netherfield Lagoons on an almost daily basis and what an asset they are.
I only started visiting recently and it’s great to have this on the doorstep.
It could be nice to have a coffee shop there to help raise funds, like they do at Attenborough.
I would like to thanks Gedling Conservation Trust who manage the site. They have done a wonderful job of keeping it tidy and open during the pandemic.
