Generous football fans donate more than 122kg of supplies to Netherfield food bank

Kind-hearted supporters of Carlton Town FC joined forces with their opposition to gather much-needed donations for a Netherfield foodbank.

The Millers, who play their home games at The Bill Stokeld Stadium, held their annual food drive during their game against Ossett United – and it was a huge success.

Netherfield Foodbank requested donations of items most demand, these being toilet rolls, jam, tinned vegetables, UHT milk, teabags, squash, pouches of cooked rice and chocolate bars – and the fans delivered.

The pool table in the clubhouse was covered and piled high with donations as bag after bag came in.

A total of 122,90kg of food and toiletries were collected during the drive which was organised by the club in conjunction with the Carlton Town Supporters Club.

The donations were handed over to Foodbank supporters Nikki Brooks and Mark Glover after the match.

Netherfield Foodbank is is based in Bethseda Ministries’ United Pentecostal Church on Forester Street and opens each Wednesday between 1.30-3pm.

The Millers continue their push for a play-off place on Saturday with a home game against Yorkshire side Brighouse Town. The Millers are 8th in the table. Brighouse sit in 15th place.
