Labour MP for Gedling Vernon Coaker visited a Carlton primary school today to congratulate them on winning a prestigious award for their work with nurture groups.
Mr Coaker talked to staff and pupils at Carlton Central Infant & Nursery School before presenting them with the prestigious Majorie Boxall Quality Mark Award.
The accolade is presented to schools who run outstanding nurture groups in schools across the UK
Nurture groups assess the learning, social and emotional needs of pupils and give whatever help is needed to remove the barriers to learning.

MP Vernon Coaker said he was impressed by the schools achievement.
He said: “Everyone involved should be very proud of their work and I am delighted that it’s being formally recognised with this award.
“It is a very happy school which I am always delighted to visit. It is a school that strives to make sure every pupil achieves their very best. This is another example of how they do it.”
Head teacher Anna Spencer said:” We are all very proud to receive this award. The whole staff have worked incredibly hard to ensure we have a nurturing school. Visitors always comment on what a happy, fun school we have and this is testament to the skill and dedication of our staff.”
