Architects have drawn up plans to build homes on the site of a dilapidated pub in Carlton.
41 homes are set to be built on the site of the former Blue Note pub on Cavendish Road in Carlton.
Work has now begun and is expected to be completed by next Autumn.
The site will be made up of new family homes and flats and funding for the scheme has been provided by the Gedling Borough Council and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
The homes are being built by local construction firm Robert Woodhead Ltd’s specialist housing arm, Woodhead Living.
Some of the homes will be sold as part of a shared ownership scheme, with others being let and managed by Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA).
Allan Fisher, director of development at NCHA said: “Our ongoing partnership with Gedling Borough Council has lead to the transformation of three formerly derelict sites in the local area. This site is our biggest project yet and marks the start of an exciting new partnership with the Woodhead Group.

“We’re working towards one goal – providing high quality affordable homes for local residents to rent and buy.”
Bosses at Woodhead Living say they hope to try and source materials and labour locally.
Craig Pygall, construction director for Robert Woodhead, said: “We’re committed to not just building new homes but also being part of the local community for the time we’re on site.
Councillor Henry Wheeler, portfolio holder for Health and Housing, said he was pleased that the building of these much-needed new homes was going ahead.
“We’ve worked closely with our partners to ensure that there will be affordable homes available on land that was derelict and an eyesore.
“These homes will provide support for the next generation and we’re delighted to be a part of this project.”
