The planning application proposes to demolish an existing clinic at 1A Whittingham Road, Mapperley, NG3 6BL describing the works as ‘Demolition of existing clinic and proposed construction of 4no maisonette / apartments with associated parking and waste storage’.
There are three no. one bedroom and one no. two bedroom dwellings proposed with a total of five parking spaces including existing.

The proposal includes tarmacadam vehicle access with block paved driveways with the proposed number of on-site parking spaces including existing totalling 12.

A prior planning application in 2019 to erect four detached properties (application no. 2019/0852) was granted conditional permission on January 16, 2020 however the development was not proceed with.

Gedling borough residents are being urged to support an environmental campaign by collecting litter from their street.
Gedling Borough Council is proud once again to be backing Great British Spring Clean – the nation’s biggest mass action environmental campaign.
Commencing on March 15, the annual initiative from Keep Britain Tidy promotes environmental responsibility and encourages people to come together and contribute to keeping their community clean.
A series of events will take place across the borough, involving local schools and residents. These include litter picks, graffiti removal the council’s Climate Change Officer visiting local schools and even a litter-based poetry competition, encouraging creativity in tackling environmental challenges.

Neighbourhood Wardens and Street Cleaning Teams will also be targeting hot spots areas throughout the spring clean week.
Councillor Marje Paling, portfolio holder for Environmental Services, said: “The Great British Spring Clean is a fantastic chance for us all to make a real difference in keeping Gedling Borough clean, green and tidy.
By getting stuck in, we want residents to maintain a sense of pride and to be inspired to carry on taking care of our beautiful borough not just for the week, but all year round.”

Businessman, author and Gedling resident Rhys Freeman published his new novel ‘A New York Night’ in January (2024) and Gedling Eye caught up with Rhys to discuss his latest project and why he chose Gedling to be his new home.
Bristolian Rhys said: “I’m Bristol born and bred and my business is back in Bristol, but I now live in Gedling. I moved to Gedling last August with my partner after she got a new job opportunity here in Nottingham which essentially required us to move to Nottinghamshire.
“After not having the best of luck house and apartment hunting and being turned down at the last minute for a couple of places, we stumbled upon Gedling by absolute pure chance and felt immediately that it was meant to be for us to move here.
“We fell in love with the area and what it offers straight away. We are both country and open space people so having the vast countryside so close one way and the convenience of the city the other, it is simply perfect for us. Ultimately for me, a new start in a new place means new inspirations and the area has certainly been giving me that”.
Rhys works in film production and felt that his screenwriting skills aligned perfectly with being an author and it was from there that his New York based love story was born.
Rhys told us about his book saying: “My book is set in modern day New York City and is centred around Lauren Monroe, a New York Times journalist and divorcee, and James L.Conway, a Wall Street Financial Consultant, and widower.
“The pair attend one of Manhattan’s regular galas. An event designed to bring the top earners and the elite in New York together; without a hint of what may unfold and a night of limited expectations suddenly turns into a world of possibilities that these two strangers may just have found something above Manhattan’s illustrious skyline.”
