A ‘despicable’ child rapist from Arnold has been jailed for 13 years this week.
Carl Andrews put himself on the police’s radar after uploading indecent images of children online.
When confronted with this, Andrews admitted to owning the images, but denied doing anything else.
Not buying this, officers reviewed all his devices and discovered videos of him sexually abusing young children.
Both the victims – a boy and a girl – are believed to have been targeted during 2022 by Andrews in Nottinghamshire.
Distinctive tattoos on Andrews’ hands that were visible in the videos were used by police to link him to those crimes.

More than 1,400 indecent photos and videos of children were also discovered on the sexual predator’s phone and other devices.
He would go on to be charged with a range of child sex offences.
This included rape, inciting someone to engage in sexual activity, assault by touching and three counts of making indecent images of children.
Faced with the damning evidence against him, Andrews elected to plead guilty to the six separate counts on 18 July this year.
He returned to Nottingham Crown Court to be sentenced on Wednesday (3 September).
Andrews, of Charles Street, Arnold, was handed an extended sentence of 13 years in jail.
He was also put on the sex offenders’ register for life, made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order and issued with a restraining order banning him from ever contacting his victims.
PC Laurenie Haynes, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Child Abuse Investigation Unit, said: “The content we found on Carl Andrews’ devices was disgraceful and vile.
“Amongst the more than 1,400 indecent images of children were videos of Andrews himself sexually abusing and in one case raping young children.
“There are truly no words to describe how much of a heinous crime that is.
“We were able to prove it was him in the videos because of distinctive tattoos on him that were clearly visible in the clips.
“Thankfully, the evidence we gathered was sufficient to pressurise Andrews to admit what he’d done, so his victims and their families didn’t have to sit through a trial.
“Andrews is a despicable individual who belongs behind bars, so we’re pleased to see he’s now been jailed.
“Despite this, we believe there could be other victims out there, who may have been targeted by Andrews but haven’t felt able to report it yet.
“To them, we’d say please come forward. It doesn’t matter if it happened years and years ago, we will listen to you and investigate further.”
I wonder if all those flag waving, rock throwing, lager swilling, half dressed screaming ‘patriots’ will be out protesting…..?
@John Rebu. As far as I’m aware with this case, there’s been no institutional cover up, no blaming of the victims and dismissing them as prostitutes, there hasn’t been a need for whistle blowers or pressure groups to bring the perpetrator to court and he’s been found guilty and handed a long prison sentence. So no, I doubt anybody would feel the need to protest.
There was no ‘institutional cover up,’ no victim blaming, no prostitution, or ‘whistle blowers’ in Southport when three young children were murdered, but that did not dissuade the intoxicated flag waving, rock throwing, lager swilling, half-dressed screaming ‘patriots’ from being stimulated by the usual far right ‘politicians’ to set fires, attack innocent members of the public and ferociously pitch missiles at our Police Force.
A total of 1,511 people were arrested, and 698 were convicted and imprisoned after these ‘protests.’
Anyone with a need to self validate their own sense of moral superiority can single out and apply that logic to any demographic that riots, it’s not an exclusive pass time of the working class.
As awful and distressing this Arnold story undoubtedly is, I don’t think any reasonable well balanced person would attempt to equate this case with the mass murder in Southport, for which, incidentally, the enquiry concluded that a cover up contributed to the disorder that followed, so the point your apparently trying to make is mute regardless.
The Southport Enquiry is still sitting. No conclusions have yet been made by Chair of the Inquiry Sir Adrian Fulford.
Oh, and still no protestations from the mob ‘leaders’ about this case….it appears to be just certain other incidents that provoke civil disorder…
You’re sounding frustrated and disappointed that this story isn’t bad enough to spark riots in Arnold so that you can justify getting involved in counter violence or working yourself up into a frenzy cheerleading them on from your armchair. Exploiting this terrible trauma for the poor children involved to score points doesn’t make you a better person than the people you profess to despise.
I’ve mixed up the UK’s independent terror law reviewer’s statement for an enquiry. He said the information released to the public was inadequate, but conflating that act of terror with this story is ridiculous. It would be much more pertinent to observe that the white working class community rarely, if ever, seeks to excuse or protect people from their own demographic who commit crimes of this nature and that they fully support tough sentencing. There are no double standards at play here, as much as you’d wish to frame it that way.
Moral posturing and selective outrage are sadly, becoming increasingly normalised today. ‘Politicians,’ billionaire owned media outlets, and the usual miscellaneous bad actors attempt to manipulate the manifold narratives surrounding certain carelessly selected incidents.
They invent, inflame and aggravate faux “patriotic rage” seeking to smear this viciousness unchallenged to hapless minorities and those who do not share their background exemplifying how these ‘politicians,’ bad actors and right-wing media contribute to the escalation of hatred and violence through their own moral failures.
Recognising differences between cases does not mean we cannot also identify common threads exposing how public reaction is subverted, manipulated, and exploited for the benefit of a self-entitled interest group within society.
