Police speak to woman seen taking photos in Jackie Bells Play Area

Bookmark

Police say they have now spoken to a woman who was reportedly taking pictures of children at a Netherfield play park last week.

Worried parents contacted police as they suspected the woman was taking the snaps as their children played at the Jackie Bells Play Area on Victoria Road.

The parents confronted the woman and asked her to stop taking pictures.

Several people also posted to Facebook to warn other parents in the area following the incident.

Now a police officer has contacted Gedling Eye to reassure people that they have spoken to the woman and also checked the phone and pictures she had taken and were satisfied the reasons she was taking the pictures on the park were perfectly innocent.

A police spokesman said: “The lady has been spoken to by my officers. Her phone has been checked.

“She is a lady visiting relatives in the area from Oman.

“She is head of some sort of parish council equivalent back in her home county and was taking pictures of park equipment for ideas to take home for the area she lives in.”
