Do you know a remarkable person who has made a difference to a community in Gedling borough? If so then get them recognised with a Nottinghamshire Community Hero Awards.

Nottinghamshire County Council is seeking nominations for people who go the extra mile for a neighbour, an organisation or a local community.

Some ideas for nominees are those who help vulnerable people with shopping, provide a lift to a medical appointment, support young people in their community, volunteer for a good cause, or lead a local community project which has made a difference to people’s lives.

Nottinghamshire County Council’s Chairman, Councillor Kevin Rostance, will meet the person who is named as a Nottinghamshire Community Hero and present them with an award for their achievements.

He said: “I am delighted to launch the first round of the Community Hero Award, which will be the first I present as Chairman. The Chairman’s Community Heroes award gives us the opportunity to raise the profile of community champions in local areas right across Nottinghamshire.

“It’s a fantastic way to recognise the hard work of residents within the county, celebrate their achievements and say thank you for the great work that they do in helping make Nottinghamshire a great place to live, work and visit.”

The Nottinghamshire Community Hero nominations criteria are as follows:

– Nominees must live in the county

– Nominees must work or volunteer within the county
