I’m shocked there isn’t more incidents there. Awful junction with only one entrance/exit to the retail park is ridiculous and there are more retail units being built with others stood vacant. Hope the pedestrian recovers and the greedy council act on the ridiculous set-up.
The only thing that can make this junction safe for pedestrians is a corner to corner spider footbridge just like the on in derby,
It’s such a poor retail park design not only to get in and out of but also for pedestrians to walk around. I can’t believe someone has designed this layout accidents are inevitable unfortunately.
All the junctions on the loop road are dangerous. There have been hit and run deaths, accidents that have had fatalities etc, then you get the lorries, the ones who decide for themselves where they are gonna turn to the industrial estate. They choose to turn onto Mile End Road rather than further up where they ARE supposed to turn. This causes limited visibility for vehicles and pedestrians alike. Installing safety cameras would not only deter people from speeding, lane switching, reckless driving etc it would also help identify these hit and run drivers Many years ago when residents requested more safety measures for crossing the loop road, we were informed that there had not been enough deaths to warrant it!!!! No I couldn’t believe that was said either but it was. I have lived just off the loop road for 30+ years and still do not feel safe turning into our road. The whole loop road needs to be re-assessed for the safety of everybody. Rant over!!!
I am not surprised there haven’t been more accidents here, the only roundabout where you can turn left in the right hand lane !! The layout is dreadful, something needs to be done about this immediately to make it safe for pedestrians and drivers alike.
This area is so dangerous cars drive through on Amber and Red lights it’s shocking I’m surprised there aren’t many more accidents, when the traffic lights turn green only about 4 cars can get through from Netherfield, Queues everywhere, delivery trucks heading for the estate some stop Kerb side to get a Macdonalds, the roundabout is useless for the volume of traffic, and what used to be Kentucky is now Costa drive through cars coming from there have to squeeze into the traffic coming from the roundabout it should never have been allowed, I worry everytime I see families crossing over the busy roads even with pedestrian lights. The area uphill at the traffic lights (side of M and S) gets completely blocked so cars coming uphill are blocked, this time of the year now its worse than ever, Please everyone drive careful in this area, I think cameras would help. Stay Safe.
