A new eco-friendly bus being launched in Carlton is to be named after one of Nottingham City Transport’s top drivers.

A new greener bus is being launched on the Lilac 27 route and will be named after Jatinder Kumar, who was named as the firm’s driver of the year for 2018 back in January.

Mr Kumar’s name is now proudly displayed on the front of bus on the routes they drive, with a photograph of the driver on the back

Mr Kumar said: “Winning NCT Driver of the Year in January was a massive surprise for me because I feel like am just doing my job by carrying people to and from their destinations.

“To now have a bus named after me too, is just amazing and I am so proud”.

In total, 30 Nottingham City Transport buses have been named, with Aaron and Jatinder joining an exclusive group which includes community heroes, other NCT Drivers of the Year, Olympians and a musician.

David Astill, NCT Commercial and Operations Director added, “Our drivers are the public face of NCT when customers board our buses and it’s only right that we celebrate their achievements by proudly naming this bus after one of our top drivers”.
