A man has been reported to police after being seen trying to sell a large number of lottery tickets to a pensioner in Sherwood.

A white male was seen trying to sell the tickets outside Wilkinsons in the town centre today (13) at 16.55pm.

Police said this could be part of a scam.

A spokesman for police said: “This could be part of a scam to earn fraudsters a quick buck. They’ll often target vulnerable people and pressure them into buying illicit goods, or in this case lottery tickets.

“Naturally, our advice is to only ever buy lottery tickets from approved and authorised sellers, usually supermarkets and newsagents.”

They added: “Don’t be pressured into parting with your money, if something sounds too good to be true it usually is.

To report any suspicious incidents please call Nottinghamshire Police on 101.
