Man from Carlton seeks support for Christmas party being planned for children in families using foodbanks

A man from Carlton is seeking support from the local community as he plans to put on a Christmas party for children in families using foodbanks in the area.

Mark Dawson hopes to bring festive cheer to children whose families will find it hard at this time of year, due to the financial pressures created by Christmas.

Mr Dawson has a party planned for youngsters on December 23 at St Paul’s Church, between 3-5pm.

The party is to benefit families using the foodbanks in Carlton and Netherfield. The children will get an invite when their families next use the banks.

Mr Dawson has Santa booked, along with a number of popular characters from TV and film who will be making an appearance.

He is now hoping that local people and business will donate selection boxes and gifts to hand out to the children at the event.

He is also hoping a local caterer will help out with food at the party too.

Mr Dawson told Gedling Eye: We want this event to be magical for the children and help take the stress and financial burden off the families at such a difficult time of the year.

People who want to support Mark’s event can contact him through his businesses Facebook page:
