Linby football team need funds for ground improvements that will help secure promotion

A football team hoping to win promotion needs the public’s help to upgrade its ground.

Linby Colliery Welfare FC has launched a GoFundMe page to raise cash for improvements – with a target of £2,000.

The club play their home games at their Church Lane Ground Church Lane in Linby and is run by volunteers and is a non-profit registered charity. They were formed in 1892

The side are currently third in the Central Midlands Alliance Premier South.

On the fundraising page a statement reads: “This season we have had our ground graded by the FA and to achieve promotion to step 6 we must improve our ground facilities. But these improvements aren’t just for promotion, they are also for our loyal supporters.

“We’ve been busy the last couple of months installing new pathways and upgrading our facilities and we also with plans to install flood lights ready for next season.

“We would be grateful for any amount you can donate – even as little as £1

“Please help us raise much needed funds to improve your experience at the ground.”
