Cllr Kevin Greaves, chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council’s transport and highways committee, said: “We removed as much of the bureaucracy as possible for authorising street parties for previous events such as the Royal Wedding and Diamond Jubilee and have again been helping the people organise their street parties for the Queen’s birthday celebrations.
“We have been working with communities to help them lay on their celebrations and, once locations have been approved, are providing organisers with required traffic signs and cones for use on the day of the celebrations.”
In total, Nottinghamshire County Council has received 70 applications for temporary road closures in order for the street parties to take place.
