Single and double yellow lines are to be painted along two roads in Gedling to solve the parking issues.
The lines will be introduced on Wood Lane and Yew Tree Lane in response to obstructive parking.
Nottinghamshire County Council will now introduce single yellow lines along Wood Lane and double yellow lines at the Junction of Wood Lane and Yew Tree Lane following consistent complaints from residents about parking restricting visibility and movement in the area.
Parking issues have largely been caused by visitors to Carlton-le-Willows Academy and those visiting Gedling Woods.
The single yellow lines will mean that vehicles cannot wait or park on the side of Wood Lane with the path between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday which will increase the safety of pupils walking to the academy.
Councillor Neil Clarke MBE, Cabinet Member for Transport and Environment at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “We have listened to local residents who have told us that parking is a large issue in their area.
“Wood Lane is a key route to access Carlton-Le-Willows Academy, both for vehicles and pedestrians, and it is important that everyone should be able to get to and from their place of education safely.
“It is great that people want to visit green spaces like Gedling Woods, however doing so should not put other road users at risk and it is our hope that these parking restrictions will improve safety in the area.
“Our public consultation showed that there was good local support for the proposals. The single yellow lines will only be in operation in the daytime from Monday to Friday when the issues are most prevalent.
“This will ensure the restrictions have the greatest impact in improving visibility and assisting young pedestrians without unduly impacting upon residents outside of the busy periods.”
Never mind the lines, get the roads tarmacked!! Like driving off-road!!
The network rail van often parked on the blind bend of the bridge does not help does it?
Hi Angry Jeff.
Without the van being there it’s still a blind spot.
Stop the school run, try walking for a change! Speed is a problem also, perhaps speed bumps required!?
What utter tripe. It’s nothing to do with visibility, the nimbys simply don’t want you parking there whilst you walk your dog. Every junction in Carlton’s like it so why are you so special eh. Bunch of damn snobs up there. Get over yourselves because it’s a private drive at the top? Barely see a car up there than just 2 or 3 at the junction.. What you don’t like is folk parking up there then driving down past all the snobby lot who live on Wood Lane. Council want to do something really constructive…catch some of the filthy beggars that never pick up their dog s**t . Countrysides and Woodland ain’t their private dog toilets.
If people parked properly when walking their dog/s then there wouldn’t be a problem. Nothing to do with being a nimby or a snob just fed up with the idiot parking. Getting out of the drives because someone doesn’t understand how to park properly is a regular occurrence and people children and adults alike having to walk in the road because someone thinks it is their right to park blocking the pavement. Wood Lane is narrow so even when a car parks on the road in some places delivery vehicles can’t get through.
If you are one of these idiots that park on the pavement or park in a stupid place then it is you and people like you who are to blame.
Every time St Paul’s Church in Carlton has a do’,play, sermon, funeral, christening or whatevers on gods agenda they park both sides which BLOCKS the road. No dustbin lorries, no deliveries get through and god forbid( he’s busy in the church though) we need an ambulance or fire engine as they ain’t gonna get through.. They park on the blind bend so much you have to walk on the road with toddlers and prams… do we get double yellows? Nah! So don’t make me laugh about visibility. Seems to me there’s probably a councillor living up there somewhere as to get this over the number of times we’ve complained about parking here, it smells strongly of favouritism.
