Three months of roadworks that will close a section of a main road in Gedling start on Wednesday (March 23).

A section of Arnold Lane is being closed for three months to allow it to be realigned and linked onto Colliery Way – the new name for Gedling Access Road.

These works will also see changes to the existing traffic signals at the Arnold Lane / Mapperley Plains junction.

The road will be closed between the junction with Linsdale Gardens and Plains Road.

Arnold Lane will fully reopen to traffic on June 30.

A spokesman for VIA East Midlands who are constructing the new road said: “We would like to thank you for your patience throughout the construction and apologise for any inconvenience that these works may cause.”

  1. So, the closure of Arnold Lane will begin on Monday, 21st, whilst the new road doesn’t open until Tuesday, 22nd! What idiot made that decision! Why not just wait an extra day and get the new road open first!

  2. This project has now got out of hand and councillors have just blundered in led by a few with loud voices and their own vested interests. The GAR is now open but traffic is just as heavy on Lambley Lane in the direction of Arnold Lane, even now it’s closed at the top. The cars nearly all turn left which means Gedling village will be just as busy as ever. And Jessops Lane/Willow Lane is still a rat run for those who want to dodge the wait at Arnold Lane. I raised this issue way back in the so called consultation process but was told they wouldn’t be measuring traffic on minor roads.
