Residents in Gedling are being invited to take the plunge for free during swimming sessions being organised by Gedling Borough Council which are sure to make a splash this summer.
The sessions, which launch next Wednesday (29), are taking place at Arnold Leisure Centre, Calverton Leisure Centre and Carlton Forum.
Residents only need a Gedling Leisure Card to swim for free during the sessions. Those without a can pick one up for free when they attend one of the free swims in July and August.
The Swim4All sessions are being organised as part of a push to combat the national decline in swimming and promote its numerous health benefits. As well as the emphasis on fitness, the council wants to remind people that swimming is a perfect activity to share and enjoy as a family.
Councillor Henry Wheeler, Portfolio Holder for Housing, Health and Well-being said: “Swimming is a sport that should be easily accessible to people of all ages because the benefits are huge. I would encourage everyone, young and old, to take advantage of our free swimming sessions.
“Regular swimming can reduce the risk of chronic illnesses, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and stroke, as well as boost your mood and keep your weight under control.”
