Residents living by Sully’s Bistro in Arnold have expressed their despair at the noise coming from the new bar.

A row has broken out on social media about the sound of music coming from the venue on Front Street.

Sully’s occupies premises previously used by Revival Coffee Co, which formally closed its doors back in November 2022.

The original social media post said: “Anyone else fed up of this noise coming from the new bar, Sully’s? It’s driving me to tears. I’m streets away and it sounds like it’s next door!”

The comments then flooded in with over 100 posts made within 24 hours.

One said “I think (personally) that Sullys is much louder than the other bars and much closer to more residential properties. We walked past yesterday, on the opposite side of the road, and found it too loud. The other bars were nowhere near that level even though we were walking much closer”

Another said: “I walked passed one evening and was going to try it out until I heard the music blasting out that loud and then thought no way would I ever go in there, I feel sorry for the people that live near by”

“A bar is fine, the music is the issue”

But others were quick to jump to the new bar’s defence.

One user wrote: “I can hear it from mine and honestly don’t find it an issue. It’s music, it’s worse when I hear the drunks being kicked out of the three bars on Front Street all screaming. I’d rather hear music than that”

“It’s a new bar and probably still finding its way. Hopefully someone there will see this and take the music down so that community happiness can be restored.”

Another responded: “Loud music??.. from a pub?? On a weekend?? Absolutely scandalous that is, how very dare they”

The social media conversation then expanded with comments being made about the noise from three pubs further along Front Street. The owner of Dexters Bar took to social media in response to the discussion.

She wrote: “I welcome anybody to private message me or visit me if you think Dexters is an issue.

“We do play loud music at the weekends but we do take steps closing our doors at 10pm for respectful noise levels.

“I’ve run this bar for over two years with a DJ playing on Friday and Saturday and not having a complaint but now feel like i’m being tarnished with another brush.”
